Show Your Best Dance (SYBD) is a groundbreaking, innovative, all-inclusive, new type of dance competition. It features various dance styles, and it is open to all levels of experience.
Season 1 features Ballroom Dance genre. There are four couples competing. One of the dancers in each couples is a professional, and the other is an amateur dancer, i.e. “student”.
Show Your Best Dance is judged by the celebrity mystery judge, who is revealed at the end of the season. The judge gives three challenges to each couple. They must perform one dance in each of the following categories: Action, Adventure, and Drama.
The scoring system is complicated, giving each couple equal chances of winning, regardless of their dance level. The maxim total points, that is possible to receive is 450 points.
There are three ways to earn points:
1. Celebrity Judge (max 100 points per dance, i.e. max 300 points total).
2. Lucky Bonus (50 points).
3. Social Media Vote (max 100 points).
Celebrity Judge (1-100 points)
Celebrity judge scores couples, based on the five categories, each consisting of 1-20 points. The judging categories are:
· Technique (execution, flexibility, partnering, control, footwork, transitions);
· Musicality (timing, rhythm, dynamics, texture);
· Presentation (look, personality, costumes, style, impact);
· Artistry (creativity, performance, expression, charisma, X-factor);
· Choreography (originality, storyline, level of difficulty).
Lucky Bonus (50 points)
Right after their last performance, all couples are asked which one of their dances (Action, Drama, or Adventure) they think was their Best Dance. Our celebrity judge is asked the same question (which dance he thinks was the best dance for each couple) immediately after viewing their performances for the first time, and just before he grades them. If the couples’ choice of Best Dance matches the opinion of the judge, then they get a Lucky Bonus of extra 50 points.
Social Media (40-100 points)
Social Media contest will be held on Instagram. One photo and short video episodes of each couple will be posted on the Show Your Best Dance Instagram account and the couple with most likes will receive the most points. The breakdown of points will be as follows:
· 1st place in most likes: 100 points;
· 2nd place in most likes: 80 points;
· 3rd place in most likes: 60 points;
· 4th place in most likes: 40 points.
The couple with the most points combined from all votes will be crowned as Show Your Best Dance champions and will receive the 1st place cash prize.
